Funded by Creative Ireland The Elders embarked on a journey into Samuel Beckett’s work with the aim to write their own Beckettian style pieces.
In December 2023 they performed a work in progress for a small audience in dlr Mill Studio. They each wrote a ‘Mundane Moment’ inspired by A Piece of Monologue. Focusing on a repetitive everyday action and the thoughts and memories that might arise during it. These short pieces gave a glimpse into private moments in life.
Inspired by Rockaby in pairs they wrote a rhythmic piece considering the image of a woman alone in a rocking chair. We incorporated movement into these pieces.
During this project we had a Beckett workshop with the wonderful Sarah Jane Scaife.
